The service
Is this the right service?
A pruning permit report assesses proposed work to a tree that will remain. It explains the pruning objective, whether the work is appropriate and the extent supported by the evidence, so council and contractors have a clear scope.
When it can help
- Council needs a report before pruning a protected tree.
- You need evidence for clearance or branch-management work.
- You want advice on whether proposed pruning is appropriate.

The assessment
How it works
Clarify the objective
We discuss the branches or clearance issue, relevant history and any council request.
Inspect and assess
We record condition and photographs, then assess the proposed pruning and any risk concerns within the agreed scope.
Describe the supported work
Your PDF explains the recommendation and reasons, including alternatives or further investigation where needed.
Your deliverables
What your report includes
- Tree condition notes and photographs
- Pruning objective and proposed works
- Assessment and reasons for the recommendation
- Next steps and report limitations
Scope and limitations
Physical pruning is not included. The report does not override permit requirements or authorise work on a neighbour’s tree. Whole-tree removal requires a different assessment.
